A source of food for some, shelter for others, the Sugar Maple is a noble tree that thrives in the richest ecosystems of southern Quebec. It is the most common maple in the East, and abounds in our forests. Northerners have forged a particularly strong bond with this forest dweller, who each spring demonstrates his immense generosity by allowing us to sweeten our taste buds. The maple grove is a reassuring, almost familiar forest, as if we had the same sap running through our veins.
The Sugar Maple is the perfect tree to describe our Laurentian forests. It's a patient tree that will wait its turn to take its place, and when it's ready to blossom, we'll be able to admire its candor. It can reach imposing dimensions, with a height of 35 metres and a diameter of over a metre. Its trident-shaped, amber buds pierce the air in search of light. Its thick, greyish, cracked bark lends it a certain wisdom, and its leaves are recognized around the world as a symbol of comfort and hardiness.
This tree represents generosity and candor.
