Weeping birch

This tree was recognized by the Celts as a harbinger of new beginnings and regeneration, since it was one of the first species to grow following a major disturbance. It is also among the first trees to lift the veil of winter and adorn itself with abundant foliage in spring. For the Slavs, the Weeping Birch was also known as the Silver Birch, and was considered "the woman of the woods" due to its branches reminiscent of long feminine hair.

It is a medium-sized tree that can reach 30 meters in height, with a diameter of around 80 cm. Native to Europe and Asia, the Weeping Birch was introduced to Quebec cities as an ornamental tree. It is most productive in full sun. 

This tree represents resilience and renewal.
